And our business is to make sure that we capture you at your best, and to get your tracks quickly and cost-effectively released to the platforms of your choice.
Our recording equipment has a small footprint, ideal for access to small and large venues where stage space is at a premium. We’re passionate about what we do, and we supply everything to make a successful recording happen.
Once recorded, we move to studio for post-production, and with your collaboration, provide the mixdown and final mastering for the tracks of your choice.
We then deliver master WAV and MP3 tracks for distribution to the streaming platforms of your choice, or for subsequent CD or Vinyl duplication. Stems are also provided.
Let’s talk to see what your goals are, and how we can help you achieve them.
We can then look at a date for your recording. We will need a tech list and stage plan from you, and venue details so we can plan accordingly.
We need ~2 hours to set up and line check bands, less so for solo artists and duos. We also ask for a slightly extended tear down and load out time.
Technical
We will ask you to provide a stage plan and from this technical requirements can be drawn up.
At the heart is the splitter box. See it as a man in the middle where all your regular inputs that normally go to your stage box or PA will route.
It splits your instrument or vocal output line into two – one for your original destination, and another for us to use as a track input. We provide the extra cabling needed to do this.
If additional mics are required for instruments that are usually not part of your mix (a Cajon for example), we should highlight this in the tech list and stage plan. We can then set up a mic for such instruments.
Additionally, we set up two mics to record audience and ambience to record an extra stereo source.
As standard we offer up 14 artist channels for recording, but can extend this to 22 or 30 input channels on request.
The Northern Voice studio is set in the light and airy basement of a residential home in beautiful River John, Nova Scotia, overlooking the river. It is a pre and post production studio and very much a creative space.
We’ll provide a preliminary mix for your review, and then work together with you to provide a final mix for your selected tracks.
This mix is then mastered to ensure that the fidelity and harmonic presence – that makes live recordings so good – is in your final master.
We provide WAVs and MP3s to Flash Drive or Cloud for onward publication to streaming platforms and CD duplication.
It’s important your streaming platform submissions are done correctly. We can provide support for streaming platform submission and CD Design and Duplication as options.
Your original stems can be made available to hard drive, again as an option.
If you want to reach out and talk about your project, a good place to start is our Request a Quote Form. We’ll look at your requirements and get right back to you with options. It would be great to hear from you.
